Windows administrator’s PowerShell script kit (Part 2)

PURPOSE
Microsoft developed a scripting language called PowerShell to assist Windows administrators with repetitive or mundane tasks. (TechRepublic Premium’s first Windows administrator’s PowerShell script kit can be found here.)

To introduce you to PowerShell — or to further your existing knowledge base — TechRepublic Premium has assembled these PowerShell commands and scripts for common workstation administrative tasks. These scripts are intended to be run on Windows 10/11 workstations. (Interestingly, PowerShell can also run on Linux and macOS systems, but this new script kit will focus on using it on Windows.)

The commands and scripts provided with this document are not original — this is public domain material. The purpose of this guide is to showcase these commands and scripts and explain how they can be valuable to you. The scripts are usable out of the box and can be analyzed to observe how PowerShell commands operate to achieve various desired results.

These scripts are safe to run and modify, so long as you are confident in your understanding of how the changes will work. A test workstation is always a good idea and can be set up in a virtual environment, separate from your production environment.
